Description

Our dog behaviour consultation is ideal for dog owners who want help to help their dogs with behaviour issues such as fear-based aggression/reactivity, fear-based anxiety, inappropriate vocal behaviours, separation anxiety and abnormal repetitive behaviours. We start with a veterinary referral (approval from your vet your dog is fit and healthy) to check there are no underlying issues which may be affecting the behaviour to keep them updated with our work and liaise regarding medication if required.   A detailed full written report can be given and a training plan is made specially to help guide you to success.

Did you know you can claim our dog behaviour consultation fees through your pet insurance? This depends on your insurance company and policy so please check with us; we will be happy to advise.

All behaviour consultations are 1:1 with our behaviourist and are either, in-person, online or a hybrid course of both. The variety and flexibility of sessions we can deliver are designed in order to give you the best support for issues both at home and outside the home.

Our face-to-face sessions are held in Kidderminster and our online behaviour consultations are done from our studio.  All sessions are done on a one to one basis so that you benefit from personalised guidance and advice, which you don’t get in group classes.

We booked our 1 year old Cocker, Monty, in with Adelaide to resolve some issues with barking, in particular if we stopped to talk when out on a walk. We had 5-6 sessions in total which lasted for approx 1 hour each. Initially, Adelaide took us through some easy ways we can encourage Monty to not bark, these worked straight away. We then went into some more general training and then we did some retrieve and scent work.

All through these sessions it was clear that Monty was fully engaged and he loved the training. For me the content has been easy to replicate when we are out on walks, with the same outcome. We have some great videos as well.

I am happy to leave a really positive review for Adelaide. The training was real fun and has helped us no end with our new family member 🙂

Thank you Peter! Monty has been a pleasure to work with, he is a super little spaniel!

I have just completed a 10 session zoom course with Adelaide to help with numerous issues we were having with our “teenage” dog. Her approach was to understand the dog’s behaviour and give us strategies to address it. We have gone from having a completely hyper dog was could not settle in the home at all, every sound or change outside had her on high alert. We now have a dog who sometimes chooses to take herself to bed! She is a much happier dog, thank you Adelaide!

Thank you Sarah! Bonnie is a very quick learner, and I am really happy with all her progress. Keep in touch!

My pointer cross rescue from Cyprus was brilliant in the house but his recall was always iffy and he started to follow scents further and further afield. He has a tracker collar but always seemed to disappear in areas where there was no phone signal. I’d tried so many ways of training his recall but none had worked and I’d practically given up hope and was keeping him on the lead which meant that he didn’t enjoy his walks very much, he was so frustrated. I contacted Adelaide for help and I’m so glad I did. She quickly tuned in to him and understood his behaviour and my loss of confidence about letting him off the lead. In the course of 5 training sessions with Adelaide I learned so much about techniques that would help. My confidence grew as he responded and he’s now off the lead again and we’re both enjoying our walks. Adelaide has shown me techniques to consolidate and build on the gains we have made. I am so grateful and highly recommend The Confident K9.

Thank you Veronica! I’m so pleased with all the progress we have made with Bilbo, and I am glad the scentwork, hunting together and recall games have worked so Bilbo can enjoy his off lead walks again. Keep in touch!

We booked a course for our Border Collie, Finley who has difficulty walking near roads with traffic. The sessions were focused and full of useful techniques to work towards solving the issues. The course was mostly training us to help Finley which means that we can continue his training beyond the finish of the 5 week course. During the course we saw a significant amount of progress, its not problem solved but we now have the toolkit to continue with the training and we are still making progress a number of weeks after completing the final session. Adelaide was excellent at getting back to us with any questions we had and sent over some useful resources which we still use. She was also really flexible with our sessions when life got in the way which was immensely helpful and we found that having a couple of weeks between some of the sessions was useful to consolidate past learning. If you are thinking of going on this course be prepared to do your homework to see best results. Thanks very much.

Thank-you Chris! It’s been great working with you both and Finley. I’m really pleased with Finley’s progress so far and he has come on leaps and bounds. Keep in touch and let me know how he gets on.
